How to Raise Your Vibration (Without Burning Out)

“Raise your vibration” is a term that gets thrown around constantly, but most people approach it in a way that actually creates more stress. Trying to force yourself into positivity or constantly “high energy” states can have the opposite effect and can lead to burnout. That’s not alignment, and is a quick way to create the opposite state of your intent.

What Raising Your Vibration Really Means

It’s not about trying to trick yourself into being positive all the time.

It’s about becoming:

  • More aligned

  • More honest

  • More regulated

  • More authentic

What Actually Works

Regulate Your Nervous System

Calm energy creates stability, but how do we regulate our nervous system? Our nervous system operates in to different modes: sympathetic and parasympathetic. Sympathetic is the fight or flight response, it’s what keeps us on edge, adrenaline and cortisol coursing through our bodies. Great for survival, not so much for healing. The parasympathetic nervous system is the rest and digest response, it’s what allows us to feel calm, protected and in a state that allows the body to heal. In order to activate the parasympathetic nervous system the fastest and easiest way is to change your breathing patterns. When your exhale is twice as long as your inhale after a few minutes the parasympathetic nervous system will activate. Try this:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds

  • Exhale for 8 seconds

  • Repeat this for at least 3 minutes

Process Emotions

Suppression lowers your baseline over time. Emotions are tool we use to express ourselves, we are not tools for emotions to express themselves. We must understand the root of what is causing certain emotions to stir in us. Try to detach from the situation if you are having trouble processing the emotions. See it from a third party perspective and ask yourself “what am I supposed to learn from this?”. Trust what comes up and allow the emotion of the situation to fade away and thank it for the lesson it has taught you.

Simplify

Consistency beats intensity. Instead of trying to process through all life’s traumas or emotions at once, do it on a daily basis, working through things as they come up. Understand that no is perfect, the process of perfection can only be discovered through mistakes. We all make them, and that’s part of the process. The second part is to learn from them and forgive yourself and others for making them.
