Unlock the Amazing Benefits of Fasting: Discover Different Types and Hours to Reap the Rewards
Fasting is an important part of our health that has been long overlooked and the benefits are amazing to our bodies. When the body is always processing food it never has the time to work on itself and take care of the routine maintenance that is required to keep us healthy. There are different types of fasts to achieve different results such as juice fasts, water fasts, dry fasts, and intermittent fasts. Fasting is also an excellent way of increasing our connection to spirit.
Juice Fast
During this type of fast you will only drink fresh juice and water. This juice is typically produced by having a juicer and juicing fresh fruits and vegetables. Organic is the best way to go for this route. You can do these fasts for as many days as you like or feel comfortable doing. Typically juice fasts are used as more of a way to ‘cleanse’ the body and since you are still taking in calories, you will not receive the full benefits that you would doing a water or dry fast.
Water Fast
During this type of fast you only consume water, black coffee and tea are also allowed, but no calories. As soon as you ingest calories the fast is technically broken.
Dry Fast
This type of fast you consume nothing at all, no liquids or food. This is never a type of fast I would recommend doing, but it is an option should you so choose. I believe that the body functions better when it is properly hydrated, but everyone is different.
Intermittent Fast
This can be either a water or dry fast that is performed more on a daily basis. This can be set in different schedules such as fast for 12 hours, eat the other 12, fast for 18 hours, eat the other 6, or eat only once a day.
Benefits of water/dry fasting by hour
8–14 hours: Stabilize blood sugar
14–24 hours: Ketosis begins
24–36 hours: Full ketosis and fat burning, new brain cells being created
36–72 hours: Autophagy (body begins to eat bad cells in the body e.g. cancer)
72+ hours: Immune system and stem cells begin to regenerate
168 hours: Complete immune system rebuild, also the recommended time to fast by Jesus in The Essene Book Of Peace in order to completely cleanse the body
When ending a fast longer than 36 hours it is important to eat light, such as fruit at first and try not to over stuff yourself. You will feel much hungrier than you actually are. Your stomach will have shrunk during the fast and will not be able to hold as much food as you may normally be able to. This can cause discomfort if you overeat on the first meal back from a fast. Everyone is unique so this may not apply to you, but beware of this and listen to your body.
